Box One Review: An Immersive Solo Escape Room Experience

I wasn’t sure how one box could possibly contain an entire escape-room experience—but Box One kept surprising me from start to finish. The creativity behind the puzzles and storytelling made it feel like a real escape room adventure, even though I was playing alone at home.

Some parts even required using a computer, which added another layer of mystery and made the experience feel modern and immersive.

Pros

Perfect for One Player
loved that this game was designed for a solo experience. Sometimes it’s hard to find someone to play puzzle games with, so this was perfect for a quiet afternoon of brain-teasing fun.

Clever and Creative Gameplay
The puzzles were challenging in a satisfying way, mixing logic, observation, and clues that carried through multiple parts of the game. Each reveal made me say, “Oh wow—that’s clever!”

Surprises All the Way Through
Just when I thought I knew what the box could hold, something new appeared. The designers really packed a lot into one small package.

Cons

24-Hour Pause Requirement
One part of the game requires you to stop and come back after 24 hours. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get back to it right away and ended up forgetting parts of the puzzle. I had to redo some steps just to remember where I left off.

One-Time Use (Mostly)
The game says it can be reset, but mine had a bit of wear and tear after playing. It didn’t seem like I could repackage it without giving away clues.

Final Rating: 8/10

If you enjoy escape rooms, puzzle games, or creative storytelling—and especially if you want something you can play solo—Box One is a fantastic experience.

I’m already looking forward to trying Box Two next!
